In a statement
by the Small Malaita Constituency Office, it says Hon Rick Hou MP for Small
Malaita Constituency has just completed his visit of the Constituency from 6 –
16 June 2015. “ This is his second visit
to the constituency in 2015 – the first was in early March 2015 when he visited
and met with Zone committee members for Zones 2, 3, 9 & 10 in Wards 21 and
23” the statement said.
The SMC Office
said that on this visit Hon Rick Hou met with Zone committee members in Zone 1,
4, 5, 6, 7 & 8 in Ward 21, 23 and 22. “He also met with chiefs and
community leaders on the Constituency Long term development infrastructure
program and more especially on the proposed 2016 Cultural Festival, the statement
said. It said that despite having to postpone some of the meetings, overall it
was a successful visit.
The SMC Office
said that during these visits Hon R Hou facilitated setting up of new zone
committees (ten zones) around the constituency.
In a further statement, a spokesman for the constituency office, Baddley
Alaha said, the meetings were used as orientation workshops to help the members
understand their roles and functions, as well as duties in the operations of
the constituency office administration set up. Mr. Alaha said, the SMC Office already
has a development plan, a constituency profile and a program of activities for
2015. He said, these have already been submitted to the Ministry of Rural
Development. He said the zone members were also briefed on the SMC Development
Plan, the annual work plan and activities for this year, including the 2015 Constituency
Budget.
Mr. Alaha said,
“Hon Rick Hou also used the opportunity to update zone committee members and
other community leaders on a number of important infrastructure projects and
development programs which he has been working on during the past four years”.
Mr. Alaha said that
the chiefs and the people of Small Malaita had expressed their happiness to MP Hon.
Rick Hou for his vision for Small Malaita Constituency. The spokesman said that
this is the first time for Small Malaita Constituency an MP has a development plan
that captures all aspect of life. The spoke person, who is a chief in his own
right, assured Hon. Rick Hou that the chiefs and the people of Small Malaita are
committed in supporting his plans now and in the years to come.
