Committee
 policy intention 
is

 provide
 solar
 lighting
 to
 every 
household 
and church 
house
 in
 Small 
Malaita
 and
 hence
 it
 is
 one
 of
 the
 priorities 
 in
 the
 Constituency
 development 
program.
 
So 
far
 distribution 
has
 reached
 over
 nine
 hundred
 households
 in
 Small Malaita. As
 a
 token 
he
 has
 also
 donated
 Solar
 lighting
 to
 Small
 Malaita
 people
 in
 and
 around
 Honiara.

 this
 program 
will continue
 next
 year
 2012.

Meeting with Malaita members of Provincial Assembly (MPAs) for Ward 22 & 23

Wards
 21

 22.
 This
 follows
 his
 successful
 meeting
 with
 the
 Premier,
 Provincial
 Secretary
 for
 Malaita
 Province, 
the 
three
 MPAs
 for
 wards 
21, 
22 
and
 23,
 and 
officials 
on 
the 
Provincial 
government
 in 
August,
 2011.
The
 Discussions 
were
 around
 the
 development
 of
 Afio
 economic
 growth
 centre,
 Parasi
 airport
 rehabilitation,
 rehabilitation
 of old
 road
 and
 bridges,
 and
 other
 infrastructure
 development
 projects
 on
 Small 
Malaita. 
He
 said 
he
 is 
pleased 
with
 the
 outcome
 from
 those
 discussions
 in
spite
 this 
is
 being
 the
 first
 time
 a
 national
 MP
 will
 work
 with
 provincial
members 
in 
Small
 Malaita.

Asimeuri Chiefs Meeting

 Ro'one village 
where 
he
 attended
 a
 chiefs 
meeting
 of
 all
 tribal
 chiefs
 in 
Asimeuri.
 This
 was 
the
 final
 of 
a 
series 
of 
meetings 
which 
chiefs 
and
 other community
 leaders
 have
 been
 having
 to
 discuss 
the
 issue
 of 
an 
additional 
constituency
 in 
Small 
Malaita.

 Malaita
 Constituency
 Office
 was
 opened
 by
 the
 Minister
 for
 Rural
 Development,
 Hon
 Lionel

and

 Service
 and
 MP 
for
 Small 
Malaita.
 
Many 
other
 dignitaries
 also
 attended
 including
 Mr.

Handing over of Medical Supplies

The
 medical
 supplies
 and
 equipment
 were
 handed
 over
 during
 the
 opening
 of 
 the
 Constituency
 Office.
 Mrs
 Rachel
 Hou
 made
 the
 presentation
 on
 behalf 
of
 the
 Prime
 Ministers’
wife.
 She
 said
 her
 group
 was
 hopeful
 that
 the
 donation
 would
 help
 alleviate
 the
 difficult
 situation
 in
 the
 maternity
 ward
 at
 the
 Afio
 Health
 Centre.
 In
 accepting
 the
 supplies
 the
 nurse
 in
 charge
 of 
 the
 Afio
 Health
 Centre
 maternity
 ward
s aid
 while
 she
 was
 happy for 
the
 donations, 
a 
lot 
of 
needs 
remain 
to 
improve 
Afio Health 
Centre.

Handing over of Afio water supply

The
 residents

 general
 public
 in
 Afio
 and
 surrounding
 communities
 were 
very 
grateful
 for
 the
 completion
 of 
 the
 Afio
 water
 supply
 rehabilitation
 project.
 The
 handing
 over
 was
 done
 by
 Mr.
Eric
 Wawra, 
second
Secretary 
of 
the
 Australian
 High
 Commission.
 The
 rehabilitation
 project
 costing
 nearly
 $180,000
 was
 completed

 with
 a
 dona:on
 of
 two
 water
 tanks 
 by
 the
 Australian
 High
 Commission
 through
 its 
 Direct
 Assistance 
Program 
(DAP).

After

 opening
 program
 Afio 
provincial 
 staff
 took 
the
 two 
Ministers 
for 
site 
seeing 
along 
the Maramasika
 Passage,
 and
 for
a
 site
 visit
 to
 two proposed 
locations 
for 
the 
future 
Afio 
wharf 
and
 port
 facilities.
 The
 Ministers
 also
 took
 a
 brief
 survey
 of
 Afio
 provincial
 land
 and
 areas 
 for
 future 
development.


Riverside Community Meeting

 Riverside
 village.
 Hon
 Hou
 spoke
 about
 the
 NCRA
 government
 program
 and
 development
 policies.
 
He
 said that
 in
 terms

 the

lighting
 the
first 
tranche
 is 
due
 to complete
 before
 end
 of
 December
 2011,
 and
 intends
 to 
complete
 the
 church
 lighting
 project
 in
 2012.


Other
 major
 infrastructure
 projects

 pipe
 line 
include
 the
 completion
 of 
Parasi
 airport,
 the
 rehabilitation
 of
 the
 coastal
 road,
 bridges,
 construction
 of
 Nu’usi
 wharf

 Bay,
 where
 he
 met community
 leaders 
and
 land
owners
 in
 that
 area
 to
 explain
 and
 clarify
 certain
 issues
 relating
 to
 the
 proposed
 industrial 
 park
 to
 be
 established
 at
 Liwe
 under
 the
 Israeli
 Economic
 Stimulus 
Package
 to
 Malaita
 Province.
