On
19th
October
Hon
R
Hou
travelled
to
Ro'one village
where
he
attended
a
chiefs
meeting
of
all
tribal
chiefs
in
Asimeuri.
This
was
the
final
of
a
series
of
meetings
which
chiefs
and
other community
leaders
have
been
having
to
discuss
the
issue
of
an
additional
constituency
in
Small
Malaita.
There
was
overwhelming
support
for
Small
Malaita
to
be
split
into
two
constituencies
as
contained
in
the
previous
Constituency
Boundary
Commission
report
(CBC).
However,
they
rejected
the
proposed
route
of
the
constituency
boundary
in
the
CBC
report.
Instead
there
was
unanimous
support
for
the
new
constituency
boundary
to
be
across
the
island.
In
their
report
the
chiefs
and
all
community
leaders
denied
having
being
consulted
by
the
CBC
on
the
matter.
The
report
is
being
finalised
for
a
formal
submission
to
the
government
before
the
end
of
this
year,
2012.
At
the
meeting,
Hon
R
N
Hou
discussed progress
with
his
development
program
and other
development
plans.
This
was
followed by a
very
lively
“question
&
answer”
session. He
thanked
all
the
chiefs
and
Paramount
Chief Rev
Timothy
Laesanau for
inviting
him
to
the meeting.
The
chiefs
acknowledged
and
thanked
Hon
R
Hou
for
his
support
and
in
meeting
expenses
for
all
the
three
meetings
held
in
the
three
wards
-
21,
22
and
23.
Hon
R
Hou
said
he
will
work
closely
with
chiefs
on
maintaining
cultural
norms
and
values
in
Small
Malaita.
He
said
maintaining
our
customs,
law
and
order
and
the
authority
of
chiefs
in
Small
Malaita
communities
is
an
important
heritage.
