the
new
Small
Malaita
Constituency
Office
was
opened
by
the
Minister
for
Rural
Development,
Hon
Lionel
Alex,
and
Hon
Rick
Hou
Minister
for Public
Service
and
MP
for
Small
Malaita.
Many
other
dignitaries
also
attended
including
Mr.
Eric
Wawra,
2nd
Secretary
to
the
Australian
High
Commission,
Hon
Francis
Wateliu
MPA
for
Ward
23,
PS
Ministry
for
Rural
Development
and
senior
staff
of
the Ministry,
several
CDOs
from
other
constituencies,
Malaita
Provincial
divisional
staff,
senior
staff
of
the
Bureau
for
Social
&
Economic
Reforms,
Paramount
Chief
Rev
Timothy
Laesanau,
chiefs
and
leaders
of
surrounding
communities
and
a
number
of
zone
committee
chairmen.
The
occasion
was
marked
with
custom
dancing
performances,
official
speeches,
feasting,
and
the
opening
of
the
building
itself.
Minister
for
Rural
Development
was
very
pleased
that
Small
Malaita
constituency
is
taking
the
lead
in
progressing
an
important
policy
goal
of
the
NCRA
government
in
rural
development
as
well
as
enhancing
its
flagship
policy
of
economic
growth centres.
He
said the
Constituency office
is
an extension
of
his ministry
and therefore
has pledged
his support.
The
Minister
handed
a
new
photo
copy
machine
and
a
generator
to
the
office.
In
his
address
Hon
Rick
Hou
stated
that
the
office
would
perform
the
important
function
of
an
information
centre
for
Small
Malaita
on
projects
and
other
developments
of
the
constituency. He
urged
his
constituents
to
use
the
office
and
not waste
their
money
and
ti:me
travelling
to
Honiara.
He
assured
his
people
that
work
on
other
capital
projects
and
program
activities
is
progressing
well.
He
requested
them
for
their
support
and
co‐opera:on
by
opening
up
their
resources
for
development.
