Hon Rick Hou MP attended Rokera PSS Graduation

“…Hon Rick Hou MP, has just returned after attending the 2017 Rokera PSS Prize Giving and Graduation”, said the SMC Press statement.

In a statement by the Small Malaita Constituency Office, it says Hon Rick Hou MP for Small Malaita Constituency has just returned following his attending the 2017 Rokera PSS graduation on 29 September, 2017.

“This is his 5th visit to the constituency in 2017”, the statement said.

The SMC Office said that Hon Hou in his keynote address he reminded the graduating students that

“… Today’s ceremony ushers in another chapter of your personal development …”

The Statement said that Hon Hou encouraged those who were leaving school

“… That leaving school now cannot be used as the reason to give up… this is not the end,” Hon Hou stressed to the students.

He went on to assure them that one’s

“… destiny is a matter of continuous choice …”

He encouraged the students that in life there are always opportunities coming but that taking charge of those opportunities is a personal responsibility. Hon Rick Hou reiterated the advice given by the Board Chairman that students must stay away from illicit activities in order to make good of their opportunities in school.

Hon Rick Hou noted with much appreciation that of all the high schools in Malaita Province Rokera PSS has been one of the highest achievers in terms of academic achievements in recent years. He urged the school administration to maintain that good image. But equally important he stressed the importance of maintaining

“… strong administrative standards, ethical standards, and a high code of conduct, personal integrity and maintaining high disciplinary standards in the school …”

Hon Rick Hou assured the school Board and administration that he has previously assisted in some school development projects and that he would continue to do more.

“… The Constituency has assisted in some areas in the past – including the school power needs and the school library.   I think with a little more collaboration and planning we can do more…”, he said.

The statement said that the event was attended by the Chairman of the Board, Mr. Richard Watekari, members of the School Board, divisional heads of government departments in Afio, church and other community leaders and many hundreds of parents and guardians.

The SMC Office said that on Saturday before leaving for Honiara via Auki, Hon Hou watched a few matches of the Constituency Fustal League which he inaugurated earlier this year.
