PRESS RELEASE-HOU
AND FANEGA
The Commission wishes to correct the information
which were illegally obtained by the Solomon Star and published in its Saturday
30th November edition. The information carried in the Solomon Star did
relate to an allegation lodged with the Leadership Code Commission and
investigated by the Commission. The Solomon Star report however, was totally
inaccurate.
While the Commission has carried out
investigation into the allegation, Mr. Hou and Mr. Fanega have never being
charge or served with a with charge of misconduct in office let alone found
guilty of misconduct in office by the LCC as reported in the Solomon Star and
in other media by some journalists whose modus operandi is scavenging for
information and publishing them not caring whether the information are true or
not and whether the information were obtained legally or not. The information
obtained by the Solomon Star were the recommendations of the investigation
officer and not findings of the Commission as reported.
In the case of Mr. Hou and Mr. Fanega, the
Commission does not authorize the release of any information to the media and
is now carrying out internal investigation to find out who release the
information to the media without authorisation.
The threat of legal action by Mr. Hou and
Fanega is their prerogative, all I can say at the moment is “the Leadership
Code Commission has the power to investigate any allegation that is lodged with
the Commission, if after assessing the allegation the commissions consider
there might be a breach of the Leadership codes.

Chairman
