SMC Priority Project 2017

The SMC Office issued a statement that the Road Network Project particularly from Matangasi to Rorongo is the priority project for 2017. As stipulated under the SMC Infrastructure Development Program 2010-2035, the road network is a component of the Afio EGC & Township program: programs in the road infrastructure enhance Afio EGC & Township. At the same time the Afio EGC and Township program will enhance other supporting projects.

 

The statement stressed that the development of road networks is vital as it provides linkage between the surrounding communities to the Afio Economic Growth Centre.

 

The statement added that in line with the SMC Infrastructure Development Program the Matangasi /Rorongo road was to have been completed by June 2017 and to extend to Tawaro by December 2017. However, due to prolonged land negotiations and the delays in arrival of equipment and funding, the schedule is now delayed.

 

Nevertheless, road construction is expected to start soon after funding is released, the statement said.
