This project is
a concept by the Israel government which is being developed through the Malaita
Chazon Authority (MCA) with assistance from the State of Israel. During this quarter an MOU was been signed
between the Land Trustees, the MCA and the Malaita Provincial Government
marking the “handing over” of
designated portions of land for this purpose. As
reported by Hon R N Hou, following his visit to Israel in May, much work
remains to be done including demarcation of the designated land, drawing up of
the physical plans and scheme for the industrial park, and costing to the plans
before work will begin. While in Jerusalem in May, Hon R N Hou discussed the
project with the engineers and confirmed that a further visit is to be made
next quarter to undertake this outstanding work. We look forward to the
ground-breaking ceremony to mark the start of actual work.
